Shoaib Akhtar takes a jab at BCCI for causing T20 WC postponement

In a latest rant against the BCCI, former Pakistan fast bowler blames the Indian board of being responsible for the postponement of the T20 World Cup in a bid to facilitate IPL. The tearaway Pakistan quick, who was a nightmare for batsmen in his playing days, Shoaib Akhtar, said that BCCI threw its weight around to provide a window to the cash-rich IPL league by pushing back the T20 World Cup.

The Asia Cup, which was scrapped earlier this month, could have also been held, feels Akhtar. “Asia Cup could have definitely happened, it would have been a great chance for India and Pakistan to play each other. There are many reasons behind this. I don’t want to get into that,” he told Geo Cricket on YouTube.

Akhtar said that he knew, and had already said that BCCI would not allow the T20 WC to happen. “IPL should not be damaged, let the World Cup go to hell,” he said.

The ICC, a couple of days ago announced the postponement of the T20 WC in Australia originally scheduled from October 18 to November 15.

BCCI, is currently mulling to stage the IPL in the UAE.
