Manchester United learns Benjamin Pavard asking price for this summer

Benjamin Pavard to Manchester United

Bayern Munich has reportedly told Manchester United that they want to make €40 million (£34.5 million) from the sale of Benjamin Pavard this summer.

The 27-year-old had another great season with the German giants, winning the Bundesliga in 2022-23, albeit on the final day ahead of rivals Borussia Dortmund.

In his fourth season at the Allianz Arena, Pavard made 30 league appearances, 27 of which he started, scoring four goals and giving one assist.

At the 2018 World Cup, the defender exploded onto the world stage, assisting France to victory, with his long-range shot against Argentina quickly becoming one of the competition’s most iconic goals.

Benjamin Pavard still on Manchester United’s transfer Wishlist

According to 90min, Bayern Munich are asking €40 million (£34.5 million) for Pavard in this window, with Manchester United also interested.

According to the source, the Bavarians will like to obtain performance-related bonuses on top of the guaranteed £34.5m payment, increasing the expense that United will face in securing their aim.

The two clubs were reportedly negotiating on a £30 million deal for Pavard, but Bayern allegedly changed their asking price as the negotiations advanced.

The Red Devils are thought to be dissatisfied with Thomas Tuchel’s new demands, yet the Premier League heavyweights are not out of the running for the right-back’s signature just yet.

The possibility of Kyle Walker joining Bayern Munich complicates United’s pursuit of Pavard, with the Bundesliga holders unwilling to let the Frenchman leave without bringing in a replacement.

Walker joined Manchester City from Tottenham Hotspur in July 2017, becoming a key member of a Pep Guardiola team that has dominated the Premier League and just won the Champions League for the first time.

Erik ten Hag’s side are preparing for the departure of Harry Maguire, who has been stripped of the captaincy at Old Trafford ahead of the new season as his time at the club appears to be coming to an end.

Although it has been widely reported that West Ham United have agreed a £30 million fee for the England defender, it is claimed that the player’s demands for a £15 million pay-off are preventing a move to the London Stadium.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez started at centre back for Manchester United against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night, albeit the latter is thought to have suffered a minor ankle injury.

As a result, Victor Lindelof replaced the Argentine World Cup champion at halftime, leaving Maguire as an unused replacement as the Red Devils started their league campaign with a bang.
