Al-Nassr exploring move for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson

Alisson Becker to Al-Nassr from Liverpool

In the summer transfer window, Al-Nassr are reportedly interested in enticing Liverpool custodian Alisson Becker to the Saudi Pro League.

The 30-year-old joined Liverpool for £70 million from Serie A team Roma in the summer of 2018, quickly establishing himself as one of Jurgen Klopp’s key men at Anfield.

Alisson has played 232 games for the Merseyside giants, helping them win the Premier League and the Champions League during his five-year tenure.

Last season, the Brazilian international missed just one league match for the Reds, who came back from a terrible start to finish fifth and secure Europa League football for the 2023-24 season.

According to The Mirror, Al-Nassr are aiming to entice Alisson away from Anfield and European football this summer, as the Saudi Arabian club aims to win their league this season.

The Saudi Pro League club has already signed renowned players in the last year, including Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United and Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich.

Al-Nassr are believed to be optimistic that they would be able to give Liverpool and Alisson a financial package that will be tough to refuse.

Despite this, the report suggests that Klopp’s Reds have no intention of selling their first-choice custodian in this window, with the Merseyside club seeking defensive stability following a slew of midfield departures.

Liverpool’s defensive options have been weakened by the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Al Ettifaq and Al Ittihad, respectively.

Henderson made his debut for Steven Gerrard’s side on the first weekend of the Pro League, when Ettifaq defeated Al Nassr 2-1 thanks to goals from Robin Quaison and Moussa Dembele.

According to the report, Alisson has not voiced a desire to leave Liverpool for the riches of the Middle East, but Luis Castro’s team are hopeful that a deal may still be struck before the transfer window closes.

Nawaf Al-Aqidi of Saudi Arabia is presently Al-Nassr’s first-choice custodian, but the 23-year-old committed an error in his team’s loss on Monday, which may have jeopardised his starting status.

Chelsea center-back Axel Disasi denied Alisson his first clean sheet of the season on Sunday afternoon, as Klopp’s Liverpool shared the spoils in their Premier League opening at Stamford Bridge.

The 30-year-old is anticipated to start in goal for the Reds when they play Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday afternoon – the hosts won the identical game 8-0 during the 2022-23 season.
