Jos Buttler to miss Rajasthan Royals’ upcoming game against DC

Jos Buttler to miss games for Rajasthan Royals IPL 2023

Rajasthan Royals player Jos Buttler injured his finger against Punjab Kings and may miss the team’s next match against Delhi Capitals. Notably, his injury necessitated numerous stitches on his left hand’s little finger.

Thus, preventing him from batting in his favourite position, the opener’s slot against PBKS. In his absence, spin wizard Ravichandran Ashwin was elevated up the order, but the strategy backfired.

As the 36-year-old was sent back to the pavilion for a duck in the fourth over of Rajasthan’s chase. Jos came in at number three and struck a boundary and a six before Nathan Ellis got the better of him in the final over of the powerplay.

Now, according to The Times of India, he may not be able to recover and play another game in just 72 hours. Thus, RR’s management may rest him in their forthcoming match against the David Warner-led team.

Who could replace Jos Buttler in Rajasthan Royals squad?

While it has been anticipated that the England wicketkeeper will be replaced by Joe Root, who could make his IPL debut against DC. RR has now had a mixed start to their 2023 campaign after winning 1 and losing another in their first 2 fixtures.

Punjab Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals by five runs in their second consecutive IPL 2023 encounter, because of their outstanding bowling performance. Shikhar Dhawan led by example with the bat, while Nathan Ellis took four wickets to demolish the RR batting unit.

However, PBKS skipper Dhawan revealed after the match that there were some scary moments, particularly when Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer were batting towards the end of the match.

“There were some nervous moments but I was keeping my calm and the same with the bowlers. There was a lot of dew. The bowlers did a great job. I was happy with the score we put up. They bowled well and bowled very good yorkers,”

Dhawan said after the match.

“Scoring 197 and then my bowlers coming and getting early wickets and keeping the pressure on and then Nathan came on and got wickets. We never let the game get out of our hands. There were some moments that were hard but I think it was a great team effort,”

he added.
