Manchester United suffers another injury ahead of Leeds United clash

Manchester United injury

A serious injury setback has occurred for Manchester United before their midweek Premier League match against Leeds United.

The team led by Erik ten Hag maintained their recent winning streak against Crystal Palace on Saturday, winning 2-1. With the win, United closed the gap to rival Manchester City to only three points and to table-toppers Arsenal to eight points.

In fact, if the Old Trafford team defeats Leeds this evening, they will tie their city rivals.

The Whites head west after firing Jesse Marsch after their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

For the Premier League match, Chris Armas, who served as Ralf Rangnick’s deputy during the unfortunate German’s tenure at United, will temporarily take control of the Yorkshire club.

United will be severely undermanned going into the game, which may offer Armas’ team, who might move up to 14th with a win, reason to think well of their prospects.

The injury list for Manchester United

As the Red Devils have seven senior player to be omitted from Ten Hag’s squad for this Premier League match. The latest one to join the injury bench is Antony, who has been ruled out of the United’s game against Leeds.

During United’s victory over the Eagles, Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp shoved the Brazilian into the billboards. A little while later, the player appeared to depart the field in difficulty.

Casemiro, an Antony compatriot, will also not play after he was sent off for placing his hands around Palace midfielder Will Hughes’ neck during the ensuing brawl.

Due to their individual injuries, Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay are still out of commission.

While in his pre-game press conference, Ten Hag stated:

“They [Martial and McTominay] are not involved tomorrow.”

“And the same with Antony dos Santos. He is also not available for tomorrow so we have to sort that out.”

Additionally, Donny van de Beek isn’t playing for United since he’s out for the rest of the year, and Christian Eriksen isn’t anticipated to play again until at least late April.

Jack Butland, a loanee from Palace, is also ineligible to play against Leeds.

Thus, players who wont be participating against Leeds today are Antony, Casemiro, Butland, Martial, McTominay, Van de Beek, & Christian Eriksen.
