Shreyas Iyer, an Indian batter, has successfully finished his rehabilitation and will be participating in the second Test against Australia. Iyer has been cleared by the BCCI’s medical staff, according to a media advisory issued by the organisation.
Thus, he will be available for selection when India plays Australia on February 17. Iyer’s absence did not affect the team during the first Test as team India completely outplayed Australia in every session.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja both displayed impressive ball skills. Moreover, captain Rohit Sharma was leading from the front and scored a fantastic century.
India’s middle-order conundrum could be resolved by Iyer’s selection in the team. In Iyer’s absence, KS Bharat and Suryakumar Yadav were given their Test debuts in the first game.
Both players failed to rise to the occasion and contribute at the plate. Team India currently leads the series 1-0 while there are 3 more fixtures yet to be played. Thus, the Men in Blues will seek to immediately assert its dominance when they take on Australia in the second Test in Delhi.
Who could miss out if Shreyas Iyer is selected to play in the 2nd Test?
It will be intriguing to watch what starting lineup India chooses for the upcoming game. While it is possible that Suryakumar might be excluded if Shreyas Iyer returns.
Todd Murphy, who made his debut in the first game, will be relied upon by Australia once more. The only Australian bowler India had trouble with was the 22-year-seven old’s wicket haul throughout the contest.
Australia will also try to alter its starting lineup. Despite David Warner’s lacklustre performance in the opening Test, the 36-year-old is probably going to receive another shot in the following game.
The squad may have a chance to win the match if they can successfully defend against India’s spin attack. On Friday, February 17, both sides will compete at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
