Manchester United preparing a summer bid for Monaco defender

Vanderson to Manchester United

Manchester United are allegedly set to make a summer transfer bid for Monaco defender Vanderson. Erik Ten Hag’s senior right-back options are now Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.

Wan-Bissaka was limited to just four Premier League minutes before the World Cup break, prompting speculation about a January departure.

Dalot’s injury kept the Englishman at Old Trafford, and he has since gained the upper hand over the Portugal international, starting 10 of Man United’s 15 Premier League games since the World Cup.

With United poised to recruit a new right-back ahead of the 2023-24 season, one of Wan-Bissaka or Dalot might be offloaded this summer.

According to RMC Sport, Manchester United has identified Vanderson as a transfer target and is prepared to make a bid.

According to the source, a number of Monaco’s important players may quit if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League.

With six games remaining, Monaco will need to close a five-point difference to finish in the Champions League spots.

Vanderson is under contract until June 2027, putting the Ligue 1 club in a strong position to negotiate a transfer fee.

Man United may face competition for the youngster’s signature, with several unknown Premier League clubs also reportedly interested.

Vanderson has made 56 competitive appearances for Monaco since signing from Gremio in January 2022, contributing three goals and seven assists.

Man United are preparing for Thursday’s league match against Tottenham Hotspur after defeating Brighton & Hove Albion on penalties in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

Man United enters the game in fourth place, with a five-point lead over fifth-placed Aston Villa, who have played one more game.

The Red Devils will be keen on making a top 4 finish with Liverpool mounting over an outside chance.
