Colin de Grandhomme, the all-rounder of New Zealand has announced his retirement from international cricket. Since making his debut in 2012, he has played in 29 Tests, 45 ODIs, and 41 T20 Internationals.
“I accept that I am not getting any younger and that the training is getting harder, particularly with the injuries,”
De Grandhomme said.
“I also have a growing family and am trying to understand what my future looks like post-cricket. All of this has been on my mind over the past few weeks.”

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to play for the BLACKCAPS since debuting in 2012 and I’m proud of my international career – but I feel this is the right time to finish.”
De Grandhomme contributed to a New Zealand team that excelled in all formats. In 29 Test matches, the all-rounder scored 1432 runs, winning 18 of them for New Zealand.
He played a significant role in New Zealand winning the ICC Test Championship as well. Grandhomme had a significant influence in ODIs as well, helping New Zealand place second in the 2019 World Cup.
In the tournament’s championship game, under extreme duress, De Grandhomme bowled a stunning performance of 1 for 25 in 10 overs, which also included the dismissal of one of England’s finest Batsman Joe Root.
In that competition, he really displayed his all-around strength. Despite Kane Williamson reaching a century, the chase against South Africa became challenging as De Grandhomme blasted a 47-ball 60.
Despite being in a losing cause, another 64 against Pakistan enabled New Zealand recover from being 83 for 5.
“I’ve loved being part of this team over the past decade and am grateful for the experiences we’ve shared together. I’ve made many lasting friendships with team-mates, coaching staff and opponents, and will treasure the memories for the rest of my life.”

Gary Stead, the head coach of New Zealand, lavished praise on the all-around player for his capacity to win games.
“Colin’s been a hugely influential part of the BLACKCAPS and contributed to some of the team’s greatest achievements,”
Said Stead. Adding further he continued saying
“His immense power with the bat and skills with the ball made him a real match winner and an asset to any side.”
“Colin’s a great team-man and we will certainly miss his character around the dressing room. While it’s sad to see him go – we appreciate he’s at a stage in his career where he’s looking to head in a different direction and we respect that,”
