PSG pushing to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante on free transfer

N'Golo Kante to PSG?

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are said to be still interested in signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante. With just over three months left on his current contract, the long-serving Blues player will become a free agent this summer.

The 31-year-old has been out with a hamstring injury since the middle of August; thus, an earlier renewal was arguably not feasible. Recently, Kante was seen in the Blues training ground and also had a place on the substitute bench against Everton on March 18.

During the international break, the World Cup winner got his first game in seven months. The Frenchman played an hour in a behind-closed-doors match against Charlton Athletic.

Meanwhile, a number of reports have indicated that Kante is likely to sign a new contract to enter his eighth year in West London. Chelsea are hopeful that they will soon be able to make a statement about Kante’s future, according to 90min.

PSG interested to sign Kante?

Yet, it is alleged that PSG are still interested in signing the French international and has held talks with the player’s representative.

PSG are already well-stocked in the centre of the pitch, with teenagers Warren Zaire-Emery and Ismael Gharbi just beginning to contend with a number of veteran alternatives for a place in Christophe Galtier’s lineup.

Although if Kante is to arrive at Parc des Princes, PSG must allow some exits from the club in order to to meet FFP criteria this summer.

Similar actions would take place later, with PSG aware that they need to strike an agreement with Kante as soon as possible if they are to persuade him to quit Chelsea.

If no additional developments occur, PSG will most likely be watching with bated breath when Graham Potter selects his squad for Saturday’s Premier League match against Aston Villa.

Kante will be seeking to make his 263rd appearance for Chelsea after joining from Leicester City in 2016.
