Rasmus Hojlund completes Manchester United medical

Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United

Rasmus Hojlund reportedly finished his Manchester United medical on Tuesday evening, and the forward is expected to sign his deal with the Red Devils on Wednesday.

Over the weekend, the 20-time English champions are claimed to have struck a full agreement with Atalanta BC on a deal for the Denmark international.

Hojlund did not play in Atalanta’s pre-season friendly against Bournemouth on Saturday, despite reports that Manchester United were close to signing him.

The whole package for the 20-year-old is estimated to be worth €70 million (£60.1 million), with the two teams agreeing to lower their initial estimations.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the forward finished his medical exams with Manchester United on Tuesday, as well as the first part of his media obligations at the club.

Rasmus Hojlund set to make his debut for Manchester United

According to Romano, Hojlund will formally sign his Red Devils contract on Wednesday, with an announcement from Erik ten Hag’s side following immediately after.

As a result, the Dane is likely to train with his teammates at Carrington before the end of the week, with a view to appearing in friendly against Lens or Athletic Bilbao this weekend.

If Hojlund proves his fitness, he could make his competitive debut for his new team on August 14 against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2023-24 Premier League.

The forward is likely to become Manchester United’s third signing of the summer transfer season, following the arrivals of Mason Mount and Andre Onana.

Hojlund joined Atalanta from Sturm Graz last year, scoring 10 goals and registering four assists in 34 games for the Italian club.

Earlier this year, Harry Kane was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, but it quickly became evident that Tottenham Hotspur would not sell the England captain to a domestic rival.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils were priced out of a deal for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who is expected to stay in Italy for at least another season.

Man United are still believed to be interested in adding to their squad, with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat highly linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Any more signings, though, are likely to be contingent on exits, with Scott McTominay, Fred, Donny van de Beek, and Harry Maguire all connected with moves away from the club.
