Man Utd need to look in mirror after embarrassing Spurs defeat, says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Inadequate singings have played havoc in the psychology of Manchester United says Gary Neville. It became evident from the crushing defeat at the hands of Spurs at home. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dubs it as embarrassing as it is the joint-heaviest defeat at home. Man Utd concede six in Premier League for only the third time after Anthony Martial dismissal.

“It is embarrassing, I hold my hands up, it is my fault. It is not Manchester United,” said Solskjaer to the media. You don’t win games by making individual mistakes, errors and a performance like that.”

Ole admits that Manchester United have to look themselves in the mirror as he takes full responsibility after their “embarrassing” 6-1 defeat to Tottenham.

Playing with 10 men after the dismissal of Anthony Martial, rampant Spurs came down heavily on United as Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane doubles. The formality was completed with goals from Tanguy Ndombele and Serge Aurier inflicting the humbling defeat on Jose Mourinho’s erstwhile club.

“It was nowhere near good enough. Today is the worst. I can’t say any more than that. When you have a defeat like this you have to look yourself in the mirror,” said Solskjaer after the defeat.

He admitted that after getting the start they wanted, they made bad decisions “and then we were two or three down.”

“We had to close their avenues to goal, but we didn’t come out with any aggression. There are a lot of wrongs today. We need to look at everything.”

Although they played with 10 men, Solskjaer refused to attribute this for their defeat. He did not agree that it was due to Martial’s red card, which was issued after Erik Lamela theatrically went to ground after being hit in the face by the softest of touches from the United forward.

“It is a bad reaction from Anthony, but if that (Lamela) was one of my players I’d hang him out to dry going down like that. He shouldn’t react like that,” Ole said.
