Following Covid scare, Delhi Capitals placed under quarantine

Delhi Capitals

At least two new cases of Covid-19 have been discovered in the Delhi Capitals squad, one of whom is an overseas player. According to the sources, the other positive instance involves a member of the support staff.

The Delhi Capitals have cancelled today’s scheduled flight to Pune ahead of their sixth IPL 2022 game due to a Covid outbreak risk. They’ll be quarantined in their rooms today and tomorrow, with door-to-door Covid-19 tests planned.

A door-to-door Covid-19 tests is planned on 18th & 19th of April to determine any positive cases if there are any. DC’s physio Patrick Farhart had earlier been isolated after testing positive. Another player has reportedly tested positive on the Rapid Antigen Test and will be subjected to a follow-up RT-PCR test to confirm the findings.

After Captials’ physiotherapist Patrick Farhart became the first individual to test positive this season, the total number of incidents in the IPL now stands at three.

The latest allegations surfaced just two days before the Capitals’ next match, which is set to take place in Pune against the Punjab Kings. There is no word yet on whether or not the match will be impacted.

According to reports, the whole Capitals roster is undergoing new testing, and the next step will be determined based on the results.

Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022

Delhi Capitals kicked off the tournament in style by defeating 5-time champions Mumbai Indians. However, after proceeding further, DC have been unable to gain any winning momentum. Currently, DC is placed 8th in the IPL 2022 points table with 4 points in 5 matches.

The Rishabh Pant led side lost their previous fixture against RCB falling short by 16 runs. Now, on Wednesday, the Capitals are scheduled to take on the Punjab Kings in Pune (April 20).

However, if results display few positive cases in the DC camp the match will post probably be postponed.

Anyone who tests positive in the tournament bubble must isolate for a minimum of seven days, according to IPL rules. To re-enter the bubble, the person would have to submit two negative RT-PCR tests separated by 24 hours. The law states that if a franchise has numerous positive cases, the team must field a minimum of 12 players, including seven Indians and one substitute. In the event that 12 players are unavailable, the IPL will make the ultimate decision, which will be final and binding.

As of now, we will have to wait and see for the number of cases being tested positive in the DC camp. If Delhi is able to declare a 12-men fit squad the match will take place according to the scheduled date and time.
