Casemiro’s move to Manchester United delayed due to Visa issues

Casemiro's United

Casemiro’s £60 million transfer to Manchester United has apparently been put off because of a visa issue; the Red Devils won’t likely confirm his arrival until the middle of next week.

The 20-time English champions revealed on Friday night that they and Real Madrid had reached an understanding over the signing of the Brazilian international.

The club’s official website included a statement that stated:

“Manchester United is delighted to announce that the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Casemiro,”

“The transfer is subject to the agreement of personal terms, UK visa requirements and a medical. Casemiro has played over 500 professional games, including 63 at international level for his native Brazil.”

“He has won 17 major honours in his illustrious career including five Champions League titles and the Copa America. We all look forward to welcoming Casemiro to Old Trafford.”

The 30-year-old’s claimed signing by Man United had been anticipated over the weekend, and the team intended to introduce him to the Old Trafford audience before Monday’s Premier League matchup with Liverpool.

The midfielder’s visa problems, however, will prevent him from travelling to the UK in time for the match against Liverpool, according to The Athletic. Because of this, it’s unlikely that the 20-time English champions would be able to confirm the South American’s arrival before the middle of next week.

Before the match against Southampton on August 27, Casemiro should become acquainted with his new teammates. His St. Mary’s debut could happen then.

Casemiro’s contract with Manchester United

The holding midfielder is expected to sign a four-year contract with a fifth-year option with Man United, who are thought to be spending £60 million for him in addition to a potential additional £10 million in add-ons.

Last season, Casemiro played in 48 games across all competitions as Los Blancos won La Liga, the Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup.

Real Madrid was not actively attempting to sell the Brazilian this summer, but they were willing to let him go after Aurelien Tchouameni joined the team to strengthen their midfield.

After moving from Sao Paulo to Real Madrid in 2013, Casemiro made 336 appearances for the Spanish team, scoring 31 goals and dishing out 29 assists.

Man United only brought in Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez during the summer transfer window, but the team intends to remain active before the deadline.

The Red Devils supposedly still want Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona despite having a deal for Casemiro, and they have increased their interest in Ajax forward Antony.
