Joginder Sharma, a seasoned India bowler, and 2007 World Cup champion has retired from professional cricket. On Friday, February 3, Joginder declared his retirement from all forms of cricket (both domestic and international).
In an ODI match against Bangladesh, the bowler made his debut for the national team in 2004. However, he may go on forever as the bowler who helped Indian win the 2007 T20 World Cup final in Johannesburg. By bowling out Misbah-ul-Haq in the high-stakes match, the allrounder assisted India to clinch the 1st T20 title.

“Today, with immense gratitude and humility, I announce my retirement from all forms of international and domestic cricket. My journey from 2002-2017 has been the most wonderful years of my life for it was an honour representing India at the highest level of sport,”
Joginder played for the Men in Blue in four T20Is and as many ODIs, taking four and one wickets in each of the two white-ball forms. He took 297 wickets in 77 First-Class cricket matches, with his best bowling stats being 8/24 in an innings.
Post-retirement plans for Joginder Sharma
In addition to declaring his retirement, he made a suggestion that he would be looking into other options including the commercial side of sports.
“I am excited to announce that I will be exploring new opportunities in the world of cricket and the business side of it, where I will also continue to participate in the sport that I love and challenge myself in new and different environment. I believe that this is the next step in my journey as a cricketer and I look forward to his new chapter in my life,”

Between 2008 and 2011, the 39-year-old played 16 matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL), taking 12 wickets while donning the yellow uniform of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
