Bayern Munich enters the race alongside Arsenal to sign Chelsea forward

Kalvin Phillips

Bayern Munich are allegedly preparing to increase their pursuit of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

Since the end of the season, it has been clear that the Blues may sell the 24-year-old in order to improve their FFP position.

While Mauricio Pochettino seems to want to keep the Germany international, there has been unexpected interest in his signature.

That came from Real Madrid before they abandoned their attempts due to Chelsea’s asking price, which is reported to be over £70 million.

Although Arsenal and Real Madrid have similar stances on this issue, it has been stated that the Gunners are still willing to engage with their London rivals.

Bayern Munich keen on signing Havertz

Earlier this week, it was reported that Havertz was ready to accept a contract offer from Arsenal, with the expectation that settling on personal terms would be a formality.

According to The Times, Mikel Arteta’s side is planning to make an offer in excess of £55 million to entice Chelsea to sell.

It remains to be seen whether that is successful, but it appears like Chelsea may have an alternative offer on the table if they opt to reject Arsenal’s bid.

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bundesliga champions are set to enter the competition for the former Bayer Leverkusen player.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel is no stranger to working with Havertz, who was a player down the middle of his attack during his stint in West London.

Furthermore, Havertz scored the game-winning goal for Tuchel’s Chelsea team in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City, and the player may be open to a reunion.

However, it is unknown whether Bayern will match any offer made by Arsenal, or whether Havertz will prefer to stay in the Premier League over returning to his birthplace.

Despite the fact that Havertz’s contract is still up for renewal, it appears increasingly probable that the club and player are ready to part ways, with Chelsea needing to be open to offers in order to balance their books by June 30.
