Dharun’s hurdles participation at World Championships is subject to the fitness test

Both the sprinters Dharun Ayyasamy and Muhammed Anas, who are the key members of the relay teams have now booked their spot in the Worlds individual events after qualifying the standards set for the meet.

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has allegedly confirmed that Dharun and Anas will be eligible to participate in both – the individual and team events at the upcoming Doha World Championships.

However, in Dharun’s case, participation in hurdles will be subject to a fitness test that will be taken before the IAAF event. AFI’s deputy Coach Radhakrishnan Nair has allegedly told that Dharun’s fitness is still an issue and we will check that before giving him the go-ahead.

Another AFI official said that a decision on Dharun’s participation will be taken on September 19.

And this because the hurdler saw no action for 5 months due to recurring shin bone stress fracture.
