Jasprit Bumrah set to miss IPL 2023 and is doubtful for WTC Final

Jasprit Bumrah to miss IPL 2023

Jasprit Bumrah’s recuperation from injury may take longer than anticipated. Thus, the Indian pacer is likely to miss both the WTC final in June and the Indian Premier League 2023.

The 16th edition of IPL will be starting from 31st March and Mumbai Indians will now have to look for Bumrah’s replacement. The 29-year-old has been out of action for nearly five months, and his return is still being postponed.

He was anticipated to play in either the ODIs against Australia or the final two Tests of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. However, his name was absent from the roster once more, and the BCCI is yet to provide an official update.

According to a Cricbuzz source, the player is not feeling well and is having some difficulty recovering. Bumrah last made an appearance against Australia in September 2022 before getting injured.

The pacer missed the 2022 T20 World Cup despite the fact that it was anticipated to be a minor setback. Moreover, he is yet to get the clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

According to the same report, the NCA does not intend to press the player into action. the BCCI and NCA are also planning on Bumrah’s return to international cricket, before the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

Jasprit Bumrah’s possible return date

According to earlier reports, the star Indian pacer recently completed match-simulation workloads at the NCA in Bengaluru. And that brought up the subject of his prospective comeback before the IPL 2023.

Mumbai Indians, who finished last in the IPL 2022, would suffer greatly if Bumrah is to miss the tournament. Jofra Archer, another talented bowler who missed the entire 2022 season due to injury, will be back, giving MI’s team a boost.

The Indian squad is vying to play in the World Test Championship 2021–23 (WTC) championship match, which will start on June 7 at The Oval. Recently, India has performed well in red-ball cricket without Bumrah, but his comeback would have increased India’s chances of winning the WTC Final.

However, there no such official news regarding the delay in Bumrah’s return but speculations suggest the pacer will not be returning any time sooner.
