Jio sets plan to broadcast IPL 2023 in 4K HD resolution

IPL 2023 broadcast

The 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is quickly coming, and anticipation among viewers is already beginning to grow. IPL 2023 will be televised across the nation by Jio-led Sports18, who, according to reports, would offer a 4K quality broadcast of the competition.

A formal statement regarding the same is anticipated to occur soon. This time around, Jio had the broadcasting rights for the FIFA World Cup in India.

Due to poor telecast management and several technical issues, they came under scrutiny and drew criticism from fans. However, as the World Cup progressed, the quality of the World Cup coverage significantly improved.

According to a report by Exchange4media, Sports18 is rumoured to have spent several hundred crores. They will do so in order to assemble a new and upgraded technical team to manage the 2023 IPL.

Ensuring that there are no technological issues this time and that the fans can enjoy a seamless viewing of the tournament. Jio is also working to make the IPL accessible in the viewer’s preferred language on every mobile device.

IPL 2023 to be broadcast in several languages

The platform is looking at the idea of airing the competition in 16–17 languages, including several others including Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, and Odia.

The “appointment viewing” option is another new addition. Instead of having to wait for the broadcaster to present the scoreboard or any other visual, this feature enables the spectator to check them anytime they want.

The IPL will be broadcast for free on the Jio app and the Sports18 channel, which is going to be a game changer for OTT platforms. The broadcaster also stated that they were aiming for a reach of over 500 million consumers in an effort to take on the TV industry head-on.

Prior to the change in broadcaster, an individual needed a Hotstar subscription to view the IPL, but it is now reported that Jio Cinema will offer a free feed of the event.
