According to reports, Kylian Mbappe has four months left to exercise a one-year contract extension clause with PSG. Thus, this would keep the former Monaco man with the team until June 2025.

The Paris born forward signed a new 3-year contract with the French capital in last year’s May. According to reports, the deal offers Mbappe €50 million per season with a €100 million signing bonus.

“I would like to announce that I have chosen to extend my contract at Paris Saint-Germain, and of course I am delighted,”

Mbappe told the official PSG website.

“I am convinced that here I can continue to grow at a club that provides everything necessary to perform at the highest level. I am also delighted to continue to play in France, the country where I was born, where I have grown up and where I have made my name.”

“I would like to thank the President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, for his trust, his understanding and his patience. I would also like to thank all the fans of Paris Saint-Germain, both in France and around the world, for their support, especially in recent months. Together, side by side and ambitious, we will make magic in Paris.”

The exact duration of Mbappe’s contract, however, has been the subject of rumours for some time. It is now thought that the forward signed a 2-year deal with an option to extend it by an additional 12 months until June 2025.

According to L’Equipe via Marca, Mbappe has 4 months to decide on whether to use the option to extend.

Kylian Mbappe could PSG and become a free agent soon

If the French international decides not to exercise the extension clause, Mbappe will have just one year left on his contract.

Thus, the Frenchman will be free to discuss terms with other clubs while entering in the 2023-24 season. Now, PSG wants Mbappe to exercise the extension clause so they won’t have another “crazy” summer of star player transfer sagas.

According to recent sources, To balance their books, the Parisian giants would be willing to terminate connections with either Mbappe, Lionel Messi, or Neymar this summer.

This season, Mbappe has been in electrifying goal-scoring form once more, hitting 29 goals in the same amount of games in all competitions, including 17 goals in 21 Ligue 1 outings.

The forward increased his overall goal total for the team to 200 in 246 games across all competitions since joining the club from Monaco in 2017. The forward scored a brace in PSG’s 3-0 league victory over Marseille last weekend.

PSG presently faces the possibility of missing out on advancing to the quarterfinals of the Champions League as they trail Bayern Munich 1-0 in their last-16 match. Mbappe allegedly vowed to submit a transfer request should they be eliminated.

Manchester United has lately come to light as a possible bidder for Mbappe, with one source stating that, should the Glazers agree to sell the team, they might make a sizable offer to recruit the Frenchman this summer.

While Carlo Ancelotti is anticipated to sign a new center-forward this summer, Real Madrid may be tempted to rekindle their interest in him. Liverpool are also rumoured to be in the running for his services.
