Manchester City joins race for PSG forward

Manchester City has reportedly joined the hunt to recruit PSG forward Neymar this summer, alongside Manchester United and Liverpool. The Brazilian joined the Ligue 1 club from Barcelona in the summer of 2017.

Thereafter, the PSG forward has scored over 100 goals in 173 appearances across all competitions. Despite not winning the Champions League, the 31-year-old has helped PSG win four Ligue 1 titles.

While Christophe Galtier’s side is in pole position to defend their championship this season. According to Fichajes, Manchester City is one of three teams vying for Neymar’s services for next season.

Irrespective of the huge salary, Erik ten Hag’s United and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are also interested in Neymar. According to the report, Pep Guardiola’s side are trying to improve their assault ahead of the new season.

Also, the English champions are planning to partner the Brazilian alongside City’s record breaker Erling Braut Haaland. While Pep Guardiola’s side are in a dominant position – the Citizens are one point ahead of Arsenal with a game in hand.

This summer, however, the 31-year-old could finally call it quits with the French champs. The club’s hierarchy, according to the aforementioned source, has chosen to sell him at the end of the season.

The ex-Barcelona player is under contract with the Parc des Princes club until the end of the 2024-25 season. According to Transfermarkt, there is also the option to extend the contract for another 12 months.

Christophe Galtier’s representatives may so seek a large sum of money for his move. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen which clubs are interested in signing him.

Neymar has missed multiple games for PSG due to injuries over the years, and he is never far from controversy.
