Manchester United learn asking price for Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen to Chelsea

Manchester United will reportedly have to pay €160 million (£140 million) to get Napoli center-forward Victor Osimhen this summer.

During the 2022-23 season, the 24-year-old has been in good form with the Blues, scoring 28 goals and registering five assists in 37 games across all competitions.

Osimhen scored five goals in six Champions League appearances this season, and he had 23 goals and five assists in 30 Serie A matches as Napoli won the league.

The Nigeria international moved to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona from Lille in 2020, and he has made 99 appearances for Gli Azzurri, scoring 56 goals and registering 14 assists.

Osimhen’s contract with Napoli expires in two years, and there is now a lot of talk about his future, with a number of clubs reportedly interested in his services.

Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain have all been prominently associated with Osimhen, while Manchester United is also said to be interested.

The Red Devils are still interested in Harry Kane, but Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is unlikely to sell to a Premier League competitor.

As a result, Osimhen could emerge as Manchester United’s favourite choice in the midfield, and Napoli, according to Il Mattino, are open to selling the Nigerian this summer.

According to the report, the 20-time English champions would have to give €160 million (£140 million) to have a chance of luring the attacker to Old Trafford in the upcoming market.

Marcus Rashford is Manchester United’s best goal scorer this season, with 29 goals in all competitions, while Bruno Fernandes is second with 11.

However, Anthony Martial has only scored eight goals this season, and the Frenchman is largely anticipated to leave the Red Devils permanently this summer.

Meanwhile, Wout Weghorst has only scored twice since joining on loan from Burnley in January, and he is unlikely to stay at Old Trafford permanently.

As a result, two new forwards are possible this summer, while head coach Erik ten Hag is also thought to seek a center-back and a central midfielder.

Kim Min-jae, Osimhen’s Napoli colleague, has been widely connected with a move to Old Trafford, with recent rumours indicating that a deal to capture the centre-back is nearing completion.
