Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly keen on signing Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva this summer. For some time, the 28-year-old has been closely connected with a move away from the Etihad Stadium.
Moreover, the City midfielder said in January that he would be open to starting a “new project.”
“I won’t hide that my goal in the coming years, if something good happens elsewhere, will probably be to move to a new project,”
Bernardo told Record.
Meanwhile, the Portugal international has also stated his desire to return to his boyhood club Benfica.
“Going into a new project at the age of 29, I’ll only finish this contract probably at 34,”
Bernardo added.
“If you ask me: what did you think 10 years ago? My goal was to return to Benfica at the age of 32 at the most. What do I think today? It depends on what happens next summer.”
“I’m not going to lie, it’s not something I don’t think about. I think about it every year. It has always been a goal.”
Apart from that, a big-money move for Bernardo to PSG or Barcelona has been discussed for months. While as per Relevo, the French champions have selected the playmaker as their priority target this summer.
According to the source, PSG advisor Luis Campos is determined to bring City’s No.20 to Paris, PSG are thought to have failed with a €70 million (£61.7 million) deal for Bernardo at the end of last summer.
Paris Saint-Germain to go after Bernardo Silva this summer
The Premier League champions are wanting for a number closer to €90 million (£79.4 million).
Bernardo, who is under contract at the Etihad until June 2025, is now thought to be valued by the Citizens between €70m (£61.9m) and €80m (£70.1m), demands that could prohibit Barcelona from making a summer approach.
PSG could thus have a clean path to acquiring Bernardo, however, Real Madrid are said to be interested if they lose out to Manchester City in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.
Bernardo is currently on international duty with Portugal ahead of Euro 2024 qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg, and the Lisbon-born playmaker has claimed that rumours surrounding his future do not bother him.
“It’s not the moment to talk about my future with three months left of the season, I’m very focused on Man City,”
Bernardo told Arab News as quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“Links and speculation don’t affect me. I try my best and what happens, happens – we have many things to fight for”.
PSG are also rumoured to be interested in acquiring Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is expected to be one of the most sought-after strikers this summer after scoring 25 goals in 29 appearances for the Serie A leaders.
Man City, Manchester United, and Chelsea have also been linked with the 24-year-old Nigerian, who Napoli believes is worth over £150 million.
