Real Madrid are apparently keeping an eye on events regarding the future of Napoli attacker Victor Osimhen.
With Karim Benzema nearing the end of his career, Los Blancos have been connected with a potential replacement for the Frenchman.
Despite the fact that the iconic forward is 35 years old, Real have been unable to bring in a world-class replacement, having missed out on Kylian Mbappe last summer.
While there has been conjecture that Real Madrid may rekindle their interest in Benzema’s compatriot, it has been suggested that a high-profile centre forward would not arrive at the Bernabeu till 2023-24.
With Mariano Diaz out of contract at the end of June, that would leave Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and youngster Alvaro Rodriguez to fill in for Benzema.
Real Madrid to go after Victor Osimhen in the near future
Nonetheless, according to Fichajes, Real have not ruled out a future transfer window move for Osimhen.
With 23 goals and four assists, the Nigerian international has just helped Napoli end their lengthy quest for another Serie A title.
Osimhen, who has just over two years left on his contract, is being linked with a move away from the Naples giants later this year.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis has stated repeatedly that the 24-year-old will not be sold during the upcoming transfer window.
While such scenario would frustrate a number of Premier League teams interested in presenting a lucrative deal in the coming weeks, it may play into Real’s hands in terms of a 2024 move.
According to the source, Osimhen is just Real Madrid’s third choice, behind Mbappe and Manchester City striker Erling Braut Haaland.
Osimhen said earlier this year that it was “his dream” to play in the Premier League, words that only strengthened his ties to clubs in that level.
If Napoli receives an offer that they believe is too good to refuse, the three most likely destinations are Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea.
I Partenopei will not sell for less than €80 million, the amount they committed to pay Lille, including add-ons, in 2020.
