The SGFI, headed by Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, is under fire. The Sports Ministry has issued a show-cause notice to the School Games Federation of India for huge mismanagement and negligence during the Pacific School Games in Adelaide. The issue dates back to December 2017. It was an unsanctioned event.
There are also media reports that the Ministry is mulling to derecognize SGFI for failure to maintain the Agra-based institution in a professional manner. The top bosses have also been apprised by the Ministry of a potential action.
The Sports Ministry has rapped the SGFI for not maintaining transparency. On the other hand, the SGFI secretary has blamed the government for arm-twisting.
