“MS Dhoni has earned the right to call it quits when he wants to,” says Ravi Shastri

Amidst constant speculations of MS Dhoni’s future in international cricket, India head coach Ravi Shastri in a statement said that Dhoni timed his retirement in Tests perfectly and that he has all the rights to call it quits from international cricket.

Also, Shastri allegedly stated that making statements about MS Dhoni’s future at this juncture is “downright disrespectful” to the cricketer and also to his celebrated career for Team India.

Dhoni, who hasn’t not played for India since the semi-final loss to New Zealand at World Cup 2019. The 39-year-old went on a sabbatical to join the Territorial Army — 106 TA Battalion (Para) in Jammu and Kashmir on July 30. Also, he was not available for selection for India’s tour of West Indies and in recently-concluded home series against South Africa as well.

Shastri in a statement said, “Half the guys commenting on can’t even tie their shoelaces. Look at what he’s achieved for the country. Why are people in a hurry to see him off? Maybe, they don’t find enough talking points. He and
