Fabinho left out of Liverpool’s Singapore tour squad

Fabinho

Fabinho has been left out of Jurgen Klopp’s 27-man squad for Liverpool‘s pre-season tour to Singapore.

The 29-year-old has piqued the interest of Saudi Pro League winners Al-Ittihad, who purportedly tabled a £40 million proposal for him earlier this month.

Fabinho was pulled out of Liverpool’s pre-season trip to Germany earlier this summer due to his projected permanent move to the Middle East.

However, according to recent sources, the midfielder’s contract is in jeopardy due to differences between the two teams over the payment structure.

The transfer appears to be back on track, as both Liverpool and Al-Ittihad are said to have reopened talks, with Fabinho expected to complete his move to Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool will leave Merseyside on Thursday for Singapore, where they will play two pre-season friendly against Leicester City and Bayern Munich.

The Reds have announced their 27-man squad for the trip to Asia, and Fabinho is notably absent, as is captain Jordan Henderson, who has completed his move to Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq.

Fabinho joined Liverpool from Monaco in the summer of 2018 for £43.7 million and has established himself as a competent defensive midfielder under Klopp, albeit allowing his standards slide slightly in the 2022-23 season.

In 219 games with the Reds across all competitions, the Brazilian has 11 goals and 10 assists and has won seven trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.

Fabinho and Henderson are the latest names to leave Anfield this summer, following the departures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino, and Fabio Carvalho, the latter of whom has joined RB Leipzig on loan.

Arthur has also left and returned to Juventus after an unproductive loan spell last season, while Thiago Alcantara, who has been linked with moves to either Spain or Turkey, could be the next Reds midfielder to leave.

So far this summer, Liverpool have made two summer signings, with Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion and RB Leipzig, respectively, and the midfield duo have been named to Klopp’s squad for the trip to Singapore.

Klopp has told Liverpool fans that he will add to his team before the summer transfer window ends, with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, and Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure all rumoured to be on their radar.
