Gianluigi Buffon considers Di Maria on Maradona’s level

Gianluigi Buffon, a Juventus great and former captain of the Italian national team, has given his approval for the club to recruit Angel Di Maria.

The Argentine forward’s spell at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has finally come to an end and now he will be making a move away from the French club this summer. While Buffon wants the PSG winger to make a shift to Italy and join Juventus as he compares Di Maria on par with Argentina’s all-time great Maradona.

Buffon puts Di Maria on level terms with the Argentina legend Maradona

The 44-year-old, who currently plays for Parma in Serie B, believes that Italy’s top-flight could use a player of Di Maria’s calibre. While the Argentine forward is available on a free transfer following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview, Buffon praised Di Maria saying

“He can play as a winger, attacking midfielder or even playmaker,”

The Parma goalkeeper further added saying

“Whoever signs him, and I really hope it’s Juve, is doing some good business.”

“We are talking bout a star, and football needs stars.”

Said the former Italy star Buffon for the PSG forward.

Moreover, Buffon didn’t stop there in his appreciation for Di Maria He further continued talking about his technical qualities. Which he believes are lacking in Serie A, he compared the Argentine to football legend Diego Armando Maradona.

Adding on further Buffon said

“Di Maria would be like Maradona in Italy,”

“Today’s Serie A is poor technically and Angel has quality to spare.”

Meanwhile, Di Maria’s pay demands are the only thing keeping him from joining Juventus, with Barcelona also reportedly interested in his services.

Nonetheless, Buffon is confident that the Bianconeri would not be disappointed in signing the Argentine. The one who was Buffon’s colleague during PSG’s title-winning 2018/19 season.
