Manchester United to hold talks for World Cup winner’s move this summer

Alexis Mac Allister transfer news

Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton is apparently the subject of “internal conversations” for a potential Manchester United move this summer. During the 2022–23 season, the 24-year-old has been impressive for both club and nation.

With the victors Argentina, Mac Allister was one of the World Cup 2022’s breakout stars. He contributed with a goal in the group stage and an assist in the finals over the course of his six starts in Qatar.

With eight goals in 23 games across all competitions, the midfielder has solidified his role as a crucial player for Brighton this season. His contributions have helped Roberto De Zerbi’s team push for a top-six finish in the Premier League.

As a result of which several European teams are rumoured to be interested in signing Mac Allister. Man United and Arsenal are reportedly joining the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus in the chase.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all looking to put an offer for the Argentine. While the reporter adds saying, the Red Devils have internally considered a summer move for Mac Allister.

Jacobs adds that Mac Allister’s first aim is to regularly play Champions League football. According the reports, he has speculated that the midfielder may cost more than £60 million.

Mac Allister looking for a way out of Brighton this summer

Mac Allister moved to Brighton from Argentinos Juniors in January 2019 for about €8 million (£6.9 million). Since then, he has made 95 appearances in all competitions, making 16 goals and contributing seven assists.

The midfielder has a deal with the Amex that runs through June 2025, and earlier this year he stated that he is “not in a haste” to leave the team.

“I feel really good with this club and my teammates, and everyone who works here,”

Mac Allister told BBC Radio Sussex.

“I try not to read too much. I always say I am really happy here and I don’t have any rush to leave. I am focused on the next game with this club.”

The midfielder will have “chances” to leave Brighton this summer, according to Mac Allister’s agent and father.

“For now he is in Brighton. It seems to me a very good thing that he has returned from the World Cup and has not despaired of leaving,”

Carlos Mac Allister told TyCSports.

“He is enjoying success calmly and in peace in a team that loves him very much. The reception he received has been for the better. He is very happy at the club.

“We all know that in July there will be chances to leave. But prior to the World Cup, Alexis renewed his contract so that the club also has the opportunity to make a big sale, so that many can reach out to Brighton. That’s the idea.”

Moises Caicedo, a colleague of Mac Allister’s at Brighton, has also been mentioned in connection with a high-profile transfer this summer despite just last week’s signing of a new contract that runs through 2027.
