Mbappe’s contract includes the opportunity to vote off the field, including on incoming recruits to the French capital.
After signing the new deal with PSG, Kylian Mbappe said
“I’m very happy to continue this adventure, to stay in France, in Paris, my city. I always said Paris was my home,”
“I hope I will continue doing what I love the most, which is to carry on playing football and winning trophies.”
Meanwhile, the club owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi said
“Kylian’s commitment to PSG represents an amazing milestone in the history of our club.”
Mbappe’s PSG contract was set to expire in June, and he would have been available on a free move.
Rather than joining 13-time European champion Real Madrid, which had been pursuing him for a long time, Mbappe chose to stay and help PSG win its first Champions League title.
Thus, now the 23-year-old will take part in the transfer strategy as well and has become a very import part of the club not only on the field but off the turf as well.
Clubs interested in Frenkie de Jong apart from PSG
De Jong made 46 appearances for Barcelona this season, scoring four goals and assisting five times in all competitions.
However, PSG are not the only team interested in signing him, with Manchester United also reportedly interested.
According to Fichajes, Xavi’s side are willing to trade De Jong as the Catalan giants need to raise finances for new players this summer.
As of now, De Jong is highly regarded with a long-term contract at Camp Nou that runs until 2026. The 25-year-old has stated his desire to play alongside Mbappe, thus he may prefer a move to PSG over a move to Man United.
Moreover, the Red Devils will also be unable to offer the midfielder Champions League football next season. In 139 games for Barca since his arrival in 2019, De Jong has scored 13 goals and provided 17 assists.
It will be interesting to see who all Mbappe has in his mind for the next season as he marks his 4th season with PSG as the new term begins.
