Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar has been a steady performer for Bengal on the home circuit. He was selected in the auction by Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 5.50 crores ahead of the Indian Premier League 2023.

In April, he made his IPL debut against the Lucknow Super Giants. For DC, he bowled some challenging overs and finished with seven wickets in ten games.

During the IPL, Kumar had the opportunity to play alongside some of the game’s legends. The 29-year-old disclosed the counsel he received from Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni in a recent interview.

The great skipper, according to the right-arm pacer, instructed him to go out and try everything he wanted and learn from the outcomes.

Mukesh Kumar on MS Dhoni’s advice

“I always wanted to meet Dhoni bhaiya and ask him a couple of things. This happened because of the IPL. I met him and the first thing I asked him – ‘What exactly do you tell your bowlers as a captain and wicketkeeper?'”

Kumar said during an interview with the Times of India.

“He put his hands around my shoulders and said, ‘I tell this to every bowler that till the time you won’t try, you won’t learn.’ He said – ‘You need to do exactly what you want to do. If you won’t, you will not learn.’ He said to forget the outcome, and just go and try. He explained this thing really well to me,”

The pacer concluded.

If Kumar is given an opportunity during India’s forthcoming tour of the West Indies, it will be interesting to watch how he performs in international cricket. The seamer gained his first call-up to the Indian Test team and was also named to the ODI squad. The first Test will take place on July 12 at Roseau, Dominica.
