Real Madrid could make a move for Chelsea forward Kai Havertz?

Havertz to Real Madrid

Real Madrid are allegedly interested in Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz as a summer transfer target.

Los Blancos had hoped, and expected in the latter event, that Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema would stay at the club for the season 2023-24.

However, in addition to Asensio being on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, sources say that Benzema is willing to accept a rich offer to move to Saudi Arabia.

While neither agreement has been verified, the rumoured developments have forced Real to enter the market for at least one successor.

In terms of Benzema, Real must find a replacement who not only fits the mould of the great Frenchman, but who is also inexpensive at a time when they plan to acquire Jude Bellingham for more than £100 million.

Although Harry Kane’s name has been mentioned, it is uncertain whether Real Madrid would be willing to pay at least £80 million for a player who may become a free agent in 2024.

Madrid may take advantage of the Blues situation and sign Havertz

According to Relevo, the La Liga heavyweights remain fans of Havertz and may be willing to exploit the situation at Chelsea.

The Blues, who will not compete in Europe next season, must sell players as soon as possible in order to meet the FFP standards, preferably by June 30.

Havertz was not named in a report earlier this week as one of 15 players who could depart this summer, but it is now reported that incoming head coach Mauricio Pochettino would be open to a transfer.

Despite scoring the game-winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final, Havertz had a contentious three-year time with Chelsea, scoring 32 goals and providing 15 assists in 139 appearances.

The Germany international has mostly played as a centre forward in West London, but he has only scored 19 Premier League goals.

Real would not necessarily consider the 23-year-old to be a direct replacement for Benzema, with club executives apparently drawn to his mobility across the frontline.

Havertz is nearing the conclusion of his contract, which means the Chelsea board will likely want to sell or extend the player’s terms.
