Real Madrid preparing to announce new deals for the legendary duo

Toni Kroos and Luka Modric

Real Madrid are said to be close to signing new contracts for midfielders Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Both Modric, 37, and Kroos, 33, are nearing the conclusion of their careers and will see their current contracts at the Santiago Bernabeu expire at the end of the season.

Modric has had a trophy-laden 11-year stint with Real Madrid since signing from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, winning a total of 23 trophies including five Champions Leagues and three La Liga crowns.

The experiences Croatian, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2018, has 37 goals and 77 assists in 485 games across all competitions, and he remains a key player under Carlo Ancelotti, starting 33 of his 49 appearances this season.

Meanwhile, Kroos joined Los Blancos from Bayern Munich in 2014 and has since won 19 trophies, including four Champions Leagues and three La Liga crowns.

The German, who has forged a good midfield combination with Modric, has 27 goals and 88 assists in 414 matches across all tournaments, including two goals and three assists in 49 outings this season.

According to a recent report, Los Blancos will announce a new one-year contract extension for Modric in the “coming days.”

Meanwhile, Kroos claimed last month that “everything is on the right track” for him to sign a new short-term contract with the Spanish giants.

According to writer Fabrizio Romano, both midfielders are set to extend their contracts “very soon” and it is ‘only a matter of time’ until Real Madrid makes an announcement.

According to Romano, Kroos has already signed a new contract until the summer of 2024, and Modric is on the verge of doing the same.

This season, the 22-year-old has established himself as an important member of Ancelotti’s squad, with 23 goals and 21 assists in 54 games across all competitions.

Vinicius was allegedly treated to racism during Real Madrid’s 1-0 loss to Valencia on Sunday, and he has since lashed out at La Liga, claiming that “racism is normal” in Spain’s top division.

Despite this, it is reported that the Brazilian has no plans to leave the Bernabeu this summer and is motivated to “stay and beat racism in Spain.”
