With KL Rahul’s consistency at the top is wavering in Test, the need for a replacement has become imminent. Who can be a better choice than Rohit Sharma who always delivers in the shorter format of the game? In fact, chief selector of the BCCI, MSK Prasad hinted on picking Rohit to open for India during South Africa’s tour of India.
Experts believe that giving Rohit an opportunity to open in India can be a good idea to help him acclimatize into the role. Even Adam Gilchrist quipped on giving Rohit a chance in India. However, selectors and management are not looking at short term solutions. This is especially because the Test Championships are approaching and the team has to consolidate well before. Rohit could be an option because even Prithvi Shaw is serving a ban on the sidelines.
