Ross Lyon’s sacking from Fremantle shocked the footy world

Fremantle Football Club has shocked the footy world by axing senior coach and the man in charge Ross Lyon after eight seasons. After the decision to cut Lyon spread over the footy world, several players came to the defence of Lyon.

St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt said, Fremantle made the wrong call by axing Lyon, while the former Fremantle player Michael Barlow said the club is “indebted” to Lyon.

But the CEO Steve Rosich, believed it was the right decision to sack Lyon and the time had come.

Australian Football Hall of Famer Brad Hardie in a statement said, “Best news I’ve heard in a long time, he’s a self-promoter”.

Ex-Dockers champ Paul Hasleby said, “I just haven’t seen enough improvement from Fremantle to guarantee they were going to be a top eight team next year,” it was the right decision.

And now with a giant ad on the front page of Wednesday’s newspaper that reads, “WANTED: NEW COACH,” the news have been delivered to the world.

The full ad reads:

“Required skills: Teach players how to kick, handball. Interact positively with other staff. Stop good players from leaving the club. Inspire turnaround in membership.”
