Sergio Ramos keen on MLS move following Paris Saint-Germain exit?

Sergio Ramos to leave PSG

Sergio Ramos is allegedly interested in joining MLS after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2022-23 season.

Last season, the experienced center-back appeared in 33 Ligue 1 matches as Les Parisiens won another French league title, but they failed to win the Champions League.

Ramos joined PSG from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 and has since played 58 games for Luis Enrique’s men, yet his two-year connection with the club terminated in June.

Lionel Messi left PSG for Inter Miami this summer, and the Argentine may not be the last player to move from Ligue 1 to North America.

According to MARCA, Ramos is eager to join the MLS but is also evaluating offers from other leagues as he carefully plots the next step in his long-lasting career.

As per reports, PSG offered the centre-back a contract extension at Parc Des Princes in an attempt to retain one of their experienced heads ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Ramos would have received half of his salary for the 2022-23 season under the terms of the agreement, making the player’s decision to leave the Ligue 1 winners much easier.

Clubs in Saudi Arabia are reportedly interested in signing the Spaniard for the 2017 Pro League season, but the player himself favours a move to the United States.

Ramos could end up at Messi’s Inter Miami, with the Herons also bringing in former Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets in recent months.

The 2022 World Cup winner has had a promising start to his career in Florida, scoring on his debut against Cruz Azul before going on to score braces against Atlanta United and Orlando City.

It is also reported that teams in Brazil are keeping a close eye on Ramos’ situation as a free agent, though the 37-year-old is unlikely to transfer to South America for the first time in his career.

Sevilla have also been mentioned as prospective suitors if the player wants to return to La Liga before retiring, although it is unclear whether the Real Madrid great would want to face battle against his former club.

Ramos will continue to work out on his own in order to find a new club this summer; his old club PSG begin their Ligue 1 defence against Lorient on August 12 at Parc Des Princes.
