Napoli winger Hirving Lozano has apparently become a target for Chelsea in the summer transfer market. The Premier League heavyweights have garnered media attention during the last two transfer windows.
This is all because of the club’s new owners, who spent more than £600 million in the previous two windows. Despite the inflow of new talent, Graham Potter’s Blues have failed to consistently impress.
And it is now believed that the Englishman will be given time to work with a team that is transitioning.
Since last summer, the West Londoners have acquired players like Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke, and Mykhaylo Mudryk, the latter for an estimated £88 million. Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech both are being strongly linked to moves later in 2023.
Thus, Chelsea might try to sign at least one replacement after the duo departs.
Journalist claims Chelsea’s interest in Hirving Lozano
Journalist Raffaele Auriemma claims that Chelsea have expressed interest in signing Lozano and may do so in the future. According to Auriemma, Napoli would be open to a trade provided Chelsea allows them to sign two of their own targets.
Auriemma said:
“The Napoli players think twice before leaving. Right now, it’s not easy to leave the blue team.”
“Almost certainly, those who can leave the Neapolitan club are Hirving Lozano and Piotr Zielinski . Chelsea likes the Mexican footballer, given that the Blues coach likes this type of winger.”
“In this case, the Neapolitan club can collect 50 million and pay it cash into Sassuolo’s coffers to take [Armand] Lauriente and [Davide] Frattesi.”
Lozano is presently in his fourth season with the Serie A powerhouses. The forward has made 144 appearances across all competitions and contributed 30 goals and 17 assists in all.
The Mexican international’s contract only has 16 months left. Thus, there is a chance that offers made before 2023–24 may be taken into consideration.
Lozano has contributed to Italy’s top division with just three goals and three assists despite Napoli’s success this season.
