Arsenal ‘could sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic for £35m this summer’

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Arsenal

Arsenal might sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic for as little as €40 million (£35 million) during the summer transfer season, according to reports.

The 28-year-old’s future is once again out in the air, with his contract in Rome set to expire in the summer of 2024.

According to Calciomercato, Lazio are still hoping to sign a new contract with Milinkovic-Savic, but the player and his agency are planning to leave in the summer.

According to the source, Arsenal is a big fan of the Serbian international and might recruit him for €40 million (£35 million), which is much less than past transfer windows.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have previously been linked with the player, with Lazio reportedly demanding up to €100 million (£87.7 million).

Claudio Lotito, the president of Lazio, stated at the conclusion of last year that he was not interested in selling the Serbian.

“I will not sell Milinkovic-Savic, I will offer him a renewal. I reiterate, he is now worth €120m (£105m), and every month that passes, the price goes up,”

Lotito told Il Messaggero.

Arsenal could get Milinkovic-Savic for a bargain this summer

Juventus is also said to be interested, but Lazio are anticipated to be reluctant to allow him join a Serie A rival, while Arsenal could offer a greater salary.

This season, Milinkovic-Savic has been in excellent form for his Italian team, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists in 37 games across all competitions.

Meanwhile, since joining the Eagles from Genk in 2015, he has appeared on 331 occasions, scoring 65 goals and providing 59 assists.

“Renewal? I focus on the pitch, helping the team to reach their seasonal goals. I don’t want to talk about the renewal, I always think about the pitch, we’ll see at the end of the season but I don’t always talk about that,”

the Serbian told reporters when addressing his future.

According to a recent report, Arsenal have been in contact with Milinkovic-Savic’s agent to negotiate a possible move to the Emirates Stadium.

In 26 Serie A matches this season, the midfielder has five goals and eight assists, with Lazio presently second in the table, five points ahead of fifth-placed Roma.
