Whether good or bad, but someone is going to be benefitted out of it and that’s none other than Roger Federer, whose path to the US Open final became much easier after Novak Djokovic was forced to retire due to the pain in his left shoulder.
No. 1 seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic’s had to retire when he suddenly stopped playing during his fourth-round match against Stan Wawrinka because of the acute pain in his left shoulder.
Djokovic was allegedly trailing 6-4 7-5 2-1 and thoroughly outplayed when he suddenly stopped playing during his fourth-round in the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Wawrinka, who will face No. 5 seed Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals said, “It’s never the way you want to finish the match. I feel sorry for Novak.”
The 32-year-old so far had won four of the last five major titles and 36 of his past 37 Grand Slam matches.
