Erik ten Hag reconsidering his decision on Ronaldo’s United future

Ronaldo and United boss ten hag

Erik ten Hag, the head coach of Manchester United, is apparently rethinking his position on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future. Moreover, the Dutchman is now willing to let the seasoned forward leave this summer.

Manchester United and Ronaldo is just not working this time around. The Red Devils fans are furious with the current situation at Old Trafford.

The team is not playing well at all and the Ronaldo saga seems to be hindering not only the overall mood in the camp but also the frustration displayed in their performances on the turf.

The Portuguese international is rumoured to have informed the Red Devils at the beginning of July that he is determined to depart during this transfer window. One of the primary reasons behind this was in order to continue playing in the Champions League in 2022–2023.

Despite the 37-year-old’s desire to switch clubs, Man United and Ten Hag have insisted that Ronaldo won’t be moving this summer. The club’s head coach has reportedly changed his mind and is willing to allow the Portuguese player leave, according to The Athletic.

According to the report, the striker occasionally eats lunch alone at the club’s training facility and has shown his annoyance during several training sessions.

Ronaldo was unable to travel with Man United on their pre-season tour to Thailand and Australia in July due to a personal matter, but he returned to Carrington late last month and has since taken part in both of their opening PL games of the 2022–23 season against Brentford and Brighton.

Ronaldo willing to leave Ten Hag and United this summer?

The forward played the entire 90 minutes of Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Brentford, but he did not thank the team’s fans or shake Ten Hag’s hand after the game. Due to Ronaldo’s recent behaviour, Man United was reportedly considering cancelling his contract on Sunday afternoon, according to Sky Sports News.

Samuel Luckhurst, a journalist for the Manchester Evening News, asserted that Man United had refuted the rumours regarding a prospective dismissal.

Earlier this summer, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain were among the teams mentioned in connection with the Portuguese player, but all three have since disqualified themselves.

The former Sporting Lisbon teenager was reportedly also rejected by AC Milan and Inter Milan this summer.

There is presently no clear suitor for the attacker, who might be forced to stay at Old Trafford, since Atletico Madrid’s interest has also appeared to wane.

Before the transfer window closes, Man United intends to add a new forward, with Raul de Tomas of Espanyol, Mauro Icardi of Paris Saint-Germain, and Alvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid reportedly among their objectives.

In 37 appearances for the Red Devils last season, Ronaldo, who had previously played for Juventus, returned to the club in the closing hours of the transfer window.

The 20-time English champions will host Liverpool at Old Trafford on August 22 in an effort to avoid suffering their third straight Premier League loss to begin the new campaign.
