Football: Sports Minister Rijiju wishes luck to U-15 Naga girls representing India at Gothia Cup

15 young girls from Nagaland are representing India at the Gothia Cup in Sweden, where more than 80 nations are going to participate. Lauding the girls for their accomplishments, Hon’ble Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju have wished them luck for a great performance at the event while giving them a warm send-off.

Gothia Cup is the world’s largest youth tournament, and it is indeed a moment of pride for the young girls from Nagaland to go that far and represent their country. An avid sports lover with an athletic bend himself, Kiren Rijiju had all the words of encouragement for the young footballers.

“It is a matter of great pride for the nation that these young girls have qualified for the tournament. I met their coach and spoke to him about training methods and his expectation from the team, and I am confident that they will do well,” Rijiju said. Also present on the occasion was Nagaland Chief Minister Mr. Neiphiu Rio.

In a cricket-frenzied nation, the growth of football and reviving its past glory is quite encouraging for the sport.
