Inter Milan submits improved €30m bid for Chelsea forward

Lukaku Inter Milan

Inter Milan is said to have increased their bid for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku to €30 million (£25.7 million).

Lukaku recently completed a season-long loan with Inter, who are hoping to re-sign the 30-year-old for the third time in his career.

Lukaku, who joined Inter in the summer of 2019, was a member of the Inter team that won Serie A under Antonio Conte in the 2020-21 season.

The Belgian international later joined Chelsea in 2021, but his second stint with the West London club has fallen short of expectations.

Lukaku had a strained relationship with Thomas Tuchel after admitting his discontent with the German’s tactical style in an interview with Italian television.

After being loaned back to Inter last summer, the striker went on to score 14 goals and give seven assists in 37 games.

Simone Inzaghi’s side are hoping to sign Lukaku on a permanent basis, although their first bid of £23 million was rejected.

According to writer Fabrizio Romano, Inter has now presented an updated bid totaling €30 million (£25.7 million).

The Champions League runners-up are now ready to have talks with Chelsea about a contract as the two clubs try to reach an agreement on Lukaku’s future.

Despite interest from the Saudi Pro League, the former Manchester United forward wants to stay in Europe.

According to a recent rumour, Lukaku has no plans to return to Chelsea’s pre-season training as he waits for a summer move.

Despite being linked with Italian giants Juventus, he is keen on a permanent move to Inter.

The Belgian striker has 78 goals and 23 assists in 132 matches for the Nerazzurri in his two stints with the club.

There was a time when Lukaku claimed that he wants to be seen in the likes of Karim Benzema and people started to have a strong believe in him and now is the time where he is nowhere near to the Real Madrid legend.
