Liverpool go on top of the table after hammering Man United by 4-0

Liverpool 4-0 Man United

Liverpool moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League table after defeating their arch-rivals Man United by 4-0.

Jurgen Klopp’s side didn’t take too long to break the deadlock as a counter-attack saw Salah assisting Diaz for the 1st goal in just 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, the absence of Ronaldo due to the demise of his infant baby boy saw the Anfield crowd applauding when the clock hit the 7th min. mark.

The Merseyside club dominated the game and in follow-through delivered another beautiful team goal courtesy of Mohamed Salah. The half-time saw the Red Devils down by 2 goals and Ralf knew he was no way near a comeback.

Thus, Phil Jones, making only his second start of the season, was withdrawn in favour of Jadon Sancho at the break. United managed to pull out an attacking threat but it was only in vain.

Just after the hour mark, Alisson had to make a superb double stop from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga’s effort. Just like the 1st half, the Reds again dominated the proceeding and Sadio Mane gave Liverpool a 3-goal cushion.

While the Egyptian struck another to complete a brace & seal the deal for Liverpool.

Liverpool 4-0 Man United: Post-Match stats

Liverpool are now undefeated in their last 8 PL games against Man United and no team has ever had a longer run without defeat against them.

What’s Next for the Reds and the Red Devils?

Now, Liverpool have played a game more than Manchester City, who will face Brighton on Wednesday night as the league standing could see a shuffle again. While Liverpool will welcome their neighbours Everton for a Merseyside derby on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will make a trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal on Saturday. Both the teams will be fighting for a place in the top 4 alongside Tottenham.
