Monty Desai joined West Indies side as batting coach ahead of India series

Monty Desai, who had served as Canada’s head coach and Afghanistan’s batting coach in the past, has been appointed as the head coach of the West Indies ahead of the limited-over assignments in India.

He is appointment as the batting coach of the men’s team for a tenure of two-year. Desai will be joining the West Indies team ahead of the 1st of the three T20Is against India that is scheduled to happen from Friday in Hyderabad.

In a statement, Desai said, “I am very much looking forward to being part of a journey where I can help to create a winning work environment, learn and embrace a new culture, and build a ‘happy dressing room’ tradition alongside other excellent leaders.” 

Further he added, “I am eager to join forces with Head Coach, Phil Simmons and Director of Cricket, Jimmy Adams, and our captains, such that I may contribute in every possible way to the success of our team.”
