CSK beat DC and become the first finalist of this years IPL

CSK have beaten DC in the first play-off match of the 2021 IPL season which took place on the 10th of October. At last, Dhonis team was able to beat DC this season by the slightest of margins. There will be disappointment around Pants team as they weren’t able to defend a total of 172.

The Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl in the first innings. Even though Shaw, Pant and Hetmayer had terrific innings Delhi weren’t able to win this match. Many of their batsmen failed to perform which hinderd their chances of establishing a more competitive total. Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel weren’t able to form a partnership and jeopardised the innings for DC. Josh Hazelwood gave DC a tough time as he picked up the crucial wickets of both Iyer and Dhawan in quick succession. In addition to Hazelwood the English spinner Moeen Ali who recorded an economy of 6.75 was also able to put pressure on the opposition and give them tough time.

CSK batting unit thumped the inform bowling unit of DC

Despite loosing the wicket of Faf du Plessis in the first over of the match Chennai were able to stabilise their innings. An impressive knock by Ruturaj Gaikwad in which he score 70 runs in 50 balls stunned the opposition. Even Robin Uthappa did the same as Gaikwad and added 63 runs for his side. The Delhi Capital bowlers weren’t up to the mark and struggled to break the phenomenal batting partnership of the duo. The partnership was for 110 runs which took the game of out of the reach of the Capitals.

Delhi Capitals will play the winner of the eliminator which is to be held on the 13th of October. The winner of the second play-off will face the Super Kings in the finals of the IPL this season. Do you think Dhonis team will be able to win the IPL this season?
