Gabriel Jesus impresses Arsenal fans on debut by Brace

In a preseason match on Friday, Gabriel Jesus scored twice on his Arsenal debut as they defeated German team Nuremberg 5-3.

The Brazilian was playing for the Gunners for the first time since Monday when he finalised his £45 million transfer from Premier League champion Manchester City.

After their opponents scored two goals in short succession midway through the first half, Mikel Arteta’s team trailed 2-0 at the break. The Spaniard then made four substitutions, including Jesus.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles set up the 25-year-old to score just 90 seconds after coming off the bench, and Mohamed Elneny responded for Arsenal seven minutes later with an incredible goal.

Nuremberg, a 2. Bundesliga team scored an own goal to complete the comeback before the hour mark, and the home team scored another own goal in the 63rd minute to give the Premier League team a 4-2 lead.

On the 73rd minute of a thrilling match, Nuremberg managed to retake the lead. However, Jesus and Arsenal quickly rallied to retake the lead and move up by two goals. The striker finished at the near post after a cross from Gabriel Martinelli.

The next week, Arsenal departs for a preseason tour of the United States, where they will play friendlies against Everton and Orlando City as part of their preparations for the 2022–23 Premier League season.

Jesus left Man City after five and a half years to join Arsenal this summer. He had made 236 appearances for the club in all competitions during that time, scoring 95 goals.

The Gunners will be delighted to the former Man City striker to hit the ground running right on the 1st pre-season friendly fixture.

The Brazilian has registered 95 goals and 46 assists for the Sky Blues in 236 fixtures during his time at Etihad. While Jesus was often used as a substitute in the recent years. Thus, he decided to make a switch to the Emirates.

Looking at his impressive start, Arsenal fans will be optimistic to make a return to the Champions League as soon as possible.
