Ishant Sharma becomes 1st Indian bowler to take a 5-wicket haul in Pink ball Tests. Even though Ishant is considered one of the most improved pace bowlers across the globe, but he doesn’t seem to find a place in the Indian limited-overs set-up that is burgeoning with envious bench strength.
Ishant in an interview said that the healthy competition in India’s world-class pace battery is what is pushing him to do better and deliver consistently for the team.
The-31-year-old last played a T20I for India since 2013, an ODI since 2016. His India teammates from the pace battery are still regulars in the limited-overs formats but he is not.
After becoming the 1st ever Indian bowler to take a 5-wicket haul in Pink ball Tests, Ishant Sharma in a press conference told that his aim is to give his best wherever he plays. He said, “Yes, it feels sad sometimes. But I’ve reached a stage in life I’ve stopped worrying about those things. I’m now 31 and if I start worrying about which format I’m in then I cannot perform.”
Further he added, “I just want to play, be it Ranji Trophy or India. That’s a simple thing. If you enjoy playing you do well. If you start cribbing for small things you can never improve. Healthy competition helps improve my performance.”
