Neymar not showing up in pre-season camp, PSG signals stern action

As Neymar didn’t show up at the PSG pre-season training on Monday, the club has issued a stern warning of “appropriate action” against the footballer. “Paris Saint-Germain notes that Neymar Jr. was not in attendance at the agreed time and place. This was without the club’s prior authorization. The club regrets this situation and will, therefore, take appropriate action,” said a statement from the club.

However, Neymar Sr. refuted claims in Brazilian media saying he wasn’t absconding and the club was well aware about his supposed absence. It was something which was planned over a year ago, said Neymar’s father. “The reason (for his no-show) was known and planned for a year as part of his activities for the Neymar Institute (charity foundation),” said Neymar Senior.

Neymar would return to PSG training on July 15 after fulfilling all his commitments. Sporting director of PSG, Leonardo stated that, “Neymar can leave PSG if there is an offer that suits everybody”.

Neymar was also not part of the Brazil team at the recently concluded 2019 Copa America. The costliest footballer in the world, Neymar is a prolific player in World Football.
